The fragrance, 4711, has profound roots in the history of perfumery. In 1792, a Cartesian monk gave to a newly married couple, the Muelhens, a wedding present that, at first sight, appeared somewhat modest. However, that little present massively influenced their future life.
It was the secret recipe for the production of an acqua mirabilis, which later in time would be called, Eau de Cologne. Wilhelm Muelhens recognised very early the value of such a recipe and he soon started to establish a small manufacturing premises in Glockengasse.
Today, the Eau de Cologne 4711 is the most authentic representation of perfume and a daily ritual of freshness. This fragrance expresses the value of loyalty and adherence to tradition, naturalness, quality, and originality.
